About the statue:
Oneof the limestone monoliths from Göbekli Tepe. The bas relief depictions of animals, birds and reptiles stand proud of the flat surfaces of each monolith. There are monoliths at Göbekli and Neval Çori that have human arms carved in very low relief, emerging from below the broad ‘shoulders’ on the narrow sides of the sculpture, and terminating in hands on the ‘front’ of the stone. These demonstrate that the monoliths were intended as schematic anthropomorphs.
